OUR STORY

How Mekhala Capital Came About

Mekhala Capital grew out of a quiet frustration. When the founders — a small group of educators and finance practitioners working in Bangkok — began talking with friends and neighbours in their forties, the same concern kept appearing: people felt behind with their money, but had nowhere calm to start.

Most existing resources were designed for younger audiences building careers, or for wealthy investors already managing portfolios. The midlife reader — someone thinking carefully about the next ten or twenty years, perhaps for the first time — was largely left to figure things out alone.

In 2021, the founding team began running a small pilot group at a borrowed meeting room near Sathorn Road. No slides, no jargon. Just an open conversation about budgeting, savings accounts, and what a pension actually means in the Thai context. Attendance grew slowly and steadily through word of mouth.

Today, Mekhala Capital runs three structured courses from its office at 159/8 Sathorn Road. The pace is still unhurried. The groups are still small. And the goal remains exactly what it was at that first session: to leave people feeling more settled about their financial future, not more anxious.

OUR MISSION

Learning at the Right Pace

Our mission is straightforward: to make financial education accessible, comfortable, and genuinely useful for people who did not grow up talking about money — and who want to start thinking about it more clearly now.

We do not sell investment products. We do not give personalised financial advice. We teach. We explain. We create space for questions that people are sometimes embarrassed to ask elsewhere.

What We Stand For

  • Patience

We move at the speed our participants need, not the speed of a syllabus.

  • Honesty

We say what we know and are clear about the limits of our role as educators.

  • Clarity

Financial concepts become manageable when explained in plain, everyday language.

  • Local Relevance

Our content reflects Thai banking, Thai savings products, and Thai life — not a foreign template.

HOW WE WORK

Our Standards and Approach

These are the principles we apply to every course, every group, and every piece of written material we produce.

Education-Only Framework

All content is developed and delivered as general financial education. We do not hold or apply for any licence to provide personalised financial advice, and we make this clear to every participant from the outset.

Data Privacy

Participant information is stored securely and used only for course administration and communication. We do not share personal data with third parties for commercial purposes.

Content Accuracy Review

Course materials are reviewed at least annually for accuracy against current Thai banking regulations, savings products, and relevant legislation. Outdated content is corrected before the next course cycle.

Group Size Limit

We cap group sizes to maintain a comfortable, personal atmosphere. Smaller groups mean every participant can raise questions without hesitation, and the facilitator can respond to individual needs.

Participant Feedback

After every course, participants complete a short written review. We read each response and use the feedback to adjust pacing, materials, and content for the next cohort.

Balanced, Impartial Content

No financial product, institution, or service is recommended or promoted in our sessions. When examples are needed, we use publicly available, generic illustrations to keep our teaching impartial.

ABOUT OUR EXPERTISE

Financial Education for the Midlife Reader in Thailand

Mekhala Capital occupies an unusual space in Bangkok's education landscape. Most financial courses are aimed at young professionals, new graduates, or experienced investors. We focus specifically on the midlife learner — someone in their forties or fifties who may have a stable income, a degree of savings, and a growing need to think clearly about what comes next.

Thailand's financial infrastructure — from the Social Security Fund and Government Pension Fund to the range of bank deposit products available at local branches — has its own rhythms and requirements. Our curriculum is built around this context. Participants learn how Thai savings accounts work, what a fixed deposit actually involves, how to read a basic financial summary, and what questions to ask a licensed professional when the time comes.

We place particular care on the emotional side of money conversations. Many of our participants have spent decades avoiding detailed financial thinking — not from carelessness, but from the way money was (or was not) discussed in their families and communities. Our role is to make that conversation feel safe, manageable, and even worthwhile.

Mekhala Capital does not hold a licence to provide regulated financial advice. We encourage every participant to consult a licensed financial adviser or planner before acting on any decision. Our contribution is to help people arrive at those conversations better informed, more confident, and more settled in their thinking.
